Government Industrial Training Institute, Canning-I was established in 2016 at Tangrakhali in the South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. Operating under the Public Private Partnership (PTP) model and affiliated to the National Council for Vocational Training, the institute delivers craftsman training that is recognised nationwide and designed around what employers actually need.

Admission to all NCVT trades is conducted centrally by the West Bengal State Council of Vocational Training. Apply online at wbscvt.org. The institute does not sell application forms and does not accept payment for admission.
Eight NCVT trades are offered: Electrician, Fitter, Welder, Plumber, Surveyor, Draughtsman (Mechanical), Mechanic Diesel and Computer Operator & Programming Assistant (COPA), along with a Broad Based Basic Training course.
Most two-year trades require a pass in Class 10 under the 10+2 system, and some one-year trades accept Class 8 pass, in accordance with the entry qualifications notified by the Directorate General of Training for each trade.
The institute is at Tangrakhali, near Bankim Sardar College, Canning, South 24 Parganas, West Bengal — about 7 km from Canning town. The nearest railway station is Canning.
