Admissions

Admission to all NCVT trades is conducted centrally by the West Bengal State Council of Vocational Training through its online portal.

Beware of touts The institute does not sell application forms and does not accept payment of any kind in exchange for admission. Admission is made only through wbscvt.org on merit. Report any demand for money to the Principal immediately.

The admission process, step by step

Each trade has its own minimum qualification — most two-year trades need a pass in Class 10, and some one-year trades accept Class 8. The table further down this page lists the requirement for every trade offered here.

Age limits, relaxations and the minimum marks required are as notified by the State Council for each admission session. Always read the current admission notification on the portal before applying.

Documents you will need

  • Madhyamik (Class 10) or equivalent marksheet and certificate
  • Class 8 marksheet, where the trade's entry qualification is Class 8
  • Admit card of the qualifying examination, as proof of date of birth
  • Caste certificate (SC / ST / OBC-A / OBC-B), where applicable
  • Persons with Disability certificate, where applicable
  • Residence certificate
  • Recent passport-size photograph and a scanned signature
  • Aadhaar or another government photo identity document

Bring the originals plus one set of photocopies to document verification. The exact list for the current session is stated in the admission notification on the State portal.

Fees, stipend and scholarships

Government ITI course fees in West Bengal are set by the State Government and are deliberately kept low. Fee concessions, stipends and scholarships are available to trainees of Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Other Backward Class, minority and differently-abled categories under the schemes in force, and are applied for through the relevant government portals.

Reservation

Seats are reserved in accordance with the policy of the Government of West Bengal in force at the time of admission, including reservation for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, persons with disabilities, ex-servicemen's dependants and women, as applicable to Industrial Training Institutes.

Admission help desk

Candidates who cannot complete the online application on their own are welcome to come to the institute on any working day between 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Staff will help with the portal, free of charge. Bring your original documents and one set of photocopies.
