The workshops, laboratories and support services that make practical training possible.

Trade workshops

A dedicated workshop for each trade, equipped to the tool and machinery list prescribed by DGT.

Every trade offered by the institute has its own workshop, laid out and equipped according to the machinery and tool list prescribed in the syllabus notified by the Directorate General of Training. Trainees spend the larger part of every working day here.

Computer laboratory

Networked computer laboratory supporting the COPA trade and digital literacy for every trainee.

The computer laboratory serves the COPA trade and is also used by trainees of other trades for engineering drawing practice, online examination preparation and access to government skill portals.

Classrooms

Well-lit theory classrooms for trade theory, workshop calculation, engineering drawing and employability skills.

Theory classes in trade theory, workshop calculation and science, engineering drawing and employability skills are held in dedicated classrooms adjacent to the workshops.

Library and reading room

Trade manuals, NIMI publications, reference books, competition guides and newspapers.

The library holds the NIMI instructional material for each trade, reference books, competitive examination guides and daily newspapers. Trainees may borrow books against their identity card.

Solar power installation

A rooftop solar installation supplying part of the campus load.

A rooftop solar photovoltaic installation supplies part of the institute's electrical load and doubles as a live teaching installation for trainees of the Electrician trade.

Playground and sports

An open playground used for athletics, football and the annual sports meet.

The campus includes an open playground used for daily games, athletics practice and the annual sports meet.

Drinking water and sanitation

Safe drinking water points and separate sanitary facilities for male and female trainees.

Safe drinking water is available at points across the campus. Separate toilet blocks are provided for male and female trainees and for staff.

Training & Placement Cell

A dedicated cell for campus recruitment, apprenticeship and career guidance.

The Training & Placement Cell maintains contact with employers in the region, organises campus recruitment drives, assists trainees with apprenticeship registration under NAPS and provides guidance on self-employment schemes.

The campus

Room to train, and room to grow

The institute occupies a single green campus at Tangrakhali, with the academic and workshop blocks set around an open ground. The aerial photographs on this site were taken above the campus and show its layout better than any description.

The workshop block carries a rooftop solar photovoltaic installation which supplies part of the campus load and doubles as a live teaching installation for Electrician trainees.
